The film „arsons“ was produced during an artist residency in Finland. It adresses an arson series that was ongoing in Tampere during the stay. A historical cottage that belonged to the Haihara manor, which my accommodation was a part of fell victim to the arson series. The cottage was abandoned, like all the other burned down buildings, which questions the motives of the perpetrator. 

The film „arsons“ explores cultural and historical uses of open fire in europe, the stages in an arson and possible motivations of an arsonist. Using landscapes stills and soft tunes, the overall mood indicates an eerie loneliness.
